Anole

For shops & expo organizers

Anole is a directory of US reptile shops and expos, used by keepers who are deciding where to drive this weekend. Getting listed costs nothing.

Free: get listed, or fix what we got wrong

We researched every entry by hand from public sources. That means some of it is out of date, and you know your own business better than our research does. Send us your hours, your species, your next show dates, or a correction, and we will update it — usually the same day, without waiting for an app release.

Paid: sponsored placement

A sponsored slot puts your shop in a labelled Sponsored section at the top of the Featured tab, above the regional lists. It is always marked as sponsored, on the section and on the row, and it expires on its own date.

The curated list underneath is not for sale. We will not reorder it, and paying does not get a shop into it. That list is the reason anyone trusts the app, and selling it would end the thing you are buying access to.

What we can and cannot tell you

This is the part most directories are vague about, so here it is plainly. Anole collects nothing about its users. No analytics, no tracking, no accounts. That is a deliberate product decision and it is not going to change.

You askOur answer
How many people saw my listing? We cannot tell you. We do not log screen views, because we do not log anything.
How many people tapped through to my site? You can see this yourself. Every link from the app to your website carries utm_source=anole. It shows up in your own analytics as a referral — in your dashboard, not ours. We never see it.
Can you prove the traffic is real? Not from our side, and we would rather you did not take our word for it. The number lives in your account, which is a stronger guarantee than a report we write.
How big is the audience? We can share what Apple reports to us for the app as a whole. Apple's figures only count people who opted in to share usage data, so the real number is higher — we will quote the reported figure and say so rather than inflate it.

If you want harder attribution than that, the honest tool is a code: give us something like “mention Anole for $2 off at the door” and count the mentions at your register. That measures what actually matters to you, which is people walking in.

How to find Anole traffic in your own analytics

Google Analytics 4: Reports → Acquisition → Traffic acquisition, then look for the source anole.

Shopify: Analytics → Reports → Sessions by referrer.

Squarespace / Wix: Analytics → Traffic sources.

No analytics at all? Tell us and we will suggest a free, cookie-free option that takes about five minutes to set up.
